2019年5月31日，美國(guó)萊斯大學(xué)瓊斯商學(xué)院教授Lin E Giralt來(lái)到我校，為上海師大附二外學(xué)生帶來(lái)一場(chǎng)名為《如何成功的申請(qǐng)美國(guó)大學(xué)》干貨滿滿的分享講座。

　　On May 31st, 2019, Professor Lin E. Giralt of Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, Texas, came to present a lecture at our school on “How to successfully applyto an American University”.

　　在這場(chǎng)講座上，Lin E Giralt教授通過(guò)不斷的反問(wèn)句式，直擊學(xué)生內(nèi)心深處。

　　“你為什么要上大學(xué)？是為了生命需要讀到那個(gè)年紀(jì)或者是一張文憑嗎？還是為了離開(kāi)父母，去培養(yǎng)你自己的個(gè)性（personality）”

　　“你真的需要學(xué)歷嗎？是為了跟隨（follow）別人，還是真的喜歡學(xué)習(xí)？”

　　“你有重視自己的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)力培養(yǎng)嗎？目標(biāo)設(shè)定、戰(zhàn)略制定、決策制定、組織結(jié)構(gòu)、組織設(shè)計(jì)、領(lǐng)導(dǎo)、動(dòng)機(jī)、個(gè)人差異、人力資源管理——以上這些你又擅長(zhǎng)哪些？”

　　By means of rhetorical questions, Professor Giralt went to the heart of the matter and caused the students to think a little deeper about their future studies.

　　“Why are you going to college? Is it because you have reached a certain age or is for a degree? Do you just want to leave home, be independent and cultivate your own personality? ”

　　“Do you really need a degree? Is it to simply follow what others are doing or do you love learning?”

　　“Do you attach importance to leadership? Goal-setting, strategizing, decision-making, organizational structure and design, innovation, leadership, motivation, dealing with diverse personalities in human resource management — what is YOUR forte?

　　這些問(wèn)題雖然簡(jiǎn)單，許多學(xué)生表示從未想過(guò)這類(lèi)問(wèn)題，但是當(dāng)聽(tīng)到Lin E Giralt教授提問(wèn)時(shí)，才發(fā)覺(jué)自己竟然連基本的問(wèn)題都沒(méi)有思考清楚，內(nèi)心被深深的震撼到了。

　　Although these questions were very simple, many students admitted that they had never given much thought to them, but when the professor raised these questions, they were startled to realize that they didn’t have all the answers.

　　學(xué)生陳嘉琪表示：Lin E Giralt教授是一位讓人聽(tīng)過(guò)他講座就會(huì)立即喜歡他的人，他的思想深刻，看問(wèn)題的視角犀利。雖然Lin E Giralt教授并沒(méi)有告訴我們第一步如何遞交材料，第二步如何博得面試官好感之類(lèi)的話，但是他通過(guò)不斷的提問(wèn)，教育我們：申請(qǐng)美國(guó)大學(xué)之前要弄清楚自己想要達(dá)到什么樣的目標(biāo)，想要成為什么樣的人，做事一定要問(wèn)我們內(nèi)心。Lin E Giralt教授就是這樣一位將答案蘊(yùn)含在提問(wèn)中的睿智長(zhǎng)者，令人敬仰。

　　Student Chen Jiaqi said: “Professor Giralt is a very personable man. His thoughts are profound and the perspective of the questions he raised showed a keen understanding of students and studying. Although he didn’t give us detailed stepson how to submit documentation or succeed in the interview process, through continuous questioning, he educated us. Before applying toAmerican universities, we should first ascertain what it is that we wish to achieve: your goal, what kind of person you want to be…h(huán)ellip;this is what must be settled in your heart. Professor Giralt cleverly provided many answers by posing these questions; this is indeed admirable.”
